Music Industry veteran Laura B. Whitmore owns and runs Mad Sun Marketing, a boutique agency that specializes in marketing, PR, artist relations, event production, graphic design, and more for music and audio companies. Prior to launching Mad Sun, Whitmore spent two decades as the marketing manager for Korg USA, handling all marketing for the Korg, Marshall and VOX brands in the U.S. She also started her career in the Direct Marketing department of CBS Records.
A singer-songwriter and performer herself, Whitmore is the founder of the Women’s International Music Network (thewimn.com) and the creator of the GuitarWorld.com featured blog series, Guitar Girl’d. She was editor of Guitar World‘s acoustic channel, Acoustic Nation for two years. Whitmore hosts and moderates workshops, panels and showcases at industry and festivals, including NAMM, SXSW, ASCAP Expo and more, and is the host and producer of the annual She Rocks Awards at the January NAMM Show. She also produces a series of events in partnership with journalist Brad Tolinski under the company name BackStory events, that is live streamed on AOL.com as part of their AOL Build series. Tom Gilbert, Creative & Marketing Manager
Originally from the Washington, DC area, Tom Gilbert has lived in Nashville, TN for the past decade (plus a two year stint in the San Francisco Bay Area). He has toured nationally as a guitarist and worked in a number of fields within the industry, from internet marketing to booking and promotion, graphic design, branding and live audio production.
In addition to developing and executing promotional strategy for Mad Sun projects, he also provides web development, event planning, videography and photography services and is a contributing writer and social media specialist for Guitar World and Guitar Player Magazines.

For nearly 20 years Leslie has been marketing, publicizing and writing about top brands, products, people and events in the music products industry. She’s worked with iconic brands like Marshall Amplification, Korg, Vox Amplification, Roland and many more large and small, successfully creating awareness, product reviews and placing stories throughout the media landscape.
Sarah Command, Social Media Specialist
Some people just have an innate understanding of social and viral marketing and Sarah is one of them! She handles social media for brands like the Women’s International Music Network and KVRAudio.com, strategically building engagement and audiences. She’s a guru when it comes to Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter and more, and actively monitors post interaction for optimal results.
